Time to Catch Up!

Okay, for all of you who have told me you keep checking our blog to no avail, the latest and greatest news has been posted. Thank you for your patience...life has been busy! Enjoy!

Happy 4th Birthday, McKenna!

Today was McKenna's 4th birthday! We had such a fun day.

After lunch, we stopped by Beene's (Deneen Lawson) office to take her some coffee and a muffin. If we're in Greenville, there's no way we can go a day without seeing her!

We had a girl's lunch out at the Brick Street Cafe in Downtown Greenville!

We brought Leah Pate with us from BJ. She has worked with us at the Southland the last two summers. The girls adore her!

Last night, we stayed the night at Beene's. The girls LOVED that! McKenna was so excited that she would get to wake up at Beene's and eat breakfast there. Beene even had gifts for the girls to open after breakfast!

Our Time at BJU

Well, we left KC right after Christmas and headed for the South. Goodbye to the snow and ice! Brrr! The older I get, the more I realize I am not made for the cold...and neither is this trailer!

Anyway, we headed down here to Greenville for Mike to do a recording with some guys from BJ and then he and Mark spoke for the opening evangelistic services at BJ to start off the semester. We have had an absolutely incredible time while here in Greenville. We are getting to see so many of our dear friends and we were overwhelmed and humbled by Dr Bob Jones III and Dr. Stephen Jones invitation to be a part of these services.

We really enjoyed having dinner a couple of nights with the Joneses. They are great friends and we always have such a enjoyable time with them.

Last Wednesday night, we went to Patch the Pirate's church here in Greenville. The kids were so excited to see him. They got to see a few of his "pirates" but they were amazed when they saw that Sissy Seagull was Patch's wife and not a bird!

Merry Christmas!

Okay, so we're almost a month late, but better late than never, right?
We had a wonderful Christmas with our families this year. We always spend Christmas Eve day with the Herbster side. The kids absolutely love being together. We adults don't mind each other's company as well! :)

Here you see a little bit of the mayhem that goes on with 11 grandkids. This pic was PRE-opening gifts, thus the chaos! They all knew what was coming next!

Merry Christmas from our clan...we really enjoyed having Maggie for Christmas this year.

Nana decided to get the 5 year old girls dress up for themselves and their Twinn Dolls. They love these outfits. They also came with these boa feathers that we found ALL over Nana and Papa's house for the rest of the day. Finally, later that night, I could take it no more and got out Nana's vacuum and cleaned up all the feathers. It was driving me nuts! Needless to say, we have confined Michala's boa feathers to her room only in the trailer!

Well, this year....while all the younger kids were opening all their gifts, the older five, Sarah, Nathan, Micah, Malachi, and Megan, just sat around watching, a little puzzled. You could watch their faces, trying to be polite and grateful, but wondering, "WHAT in the world is going on!?!?!?! Where is MY gift?!"

Well, at the end, Papa handed the five oldest big gift bags. Inside, the kids found backpacks with their names on them and then a paper full of clues. They each took a turn reading their clue, and when it was all done, it was revealed to them that their present this year was a trip to Florida with Nana and Papa! They were elated! I'm not sure who was more excited...the kids, or Nana and Papa!! In fact, they are in Florida right now and will return tomorrow. I'm sad for them that it's almost over, but happy for me because I can't wait to see my boys. I'm sure I'll post pics soon!

Mike's Trip to Japan

Here are some of the pics of Mike in Japan. He was gone for a little over two weeks and had an incredible time with Missionary Ron White. Although we missed him terribly, we are so glad he could enjoy this opportunity to preach the Gospel to the Japanese people!

This is the largest expansion bridge in the world.

Here are the guys at one of the Japanese castles.

Mike got to visit the Great Budha!
